What’s New!? Are You Still There?

Well then, it’s been a long time since  wrote a post, hasn’t it? My interests shift from time to time, my fascination with certain ideas and technology jump from one thing to another, and when I do, my brain glues itself to that and filters all else out it seems. Call it ADHD, negligence, laziness, whatever fits the bill. I get hyper-focused on what greatly interests me, for better or for worse. But, I am still here 🙂

So what are you working on?

I have been extremely busy with various online projects, in addition to my “offline” life. One such project is my SteamOS-Tools GitHub repository, wherein I have been tinkering and hacking away on various scripts, tools, and more for SteamOS. I have even started packaging various software, or rebuilding the source code, for inclusion in my newly-formed personal Debian repository. It has been a LOT of fun, and incredible, interfacing with folks, learning new things, and getting more in depth with the OS itself.

Another thing I have picked back up, is Youtube commentary and videos on my personal channel. While this is heavily SteamOS-focused at the moment, I will be doing other Linux-related and miscellaneous videos, now that I have a beginner-ready mic setup with a Blue Yeti, mic boom, and pop-filter. If that picks, up that will be something I continue on doing for the foreseeable future. I rather enjoy doing it now that I have grown more accustomed to recording software, such as OBS-Studio, OpenShot, Kdenlive, Audacity, and more.

In addition to this, I’ve started volunteering recording the audio version of DistroWatch Weekly, which I enjoy helping now with. It’s fun to give back to places in the ways you are can, and at the same time, improve your own skill-set and network of acquaintances. You can listen to my very first recording here. I hope to continue recording DWW each week, and thank Jesse Smith of DistroWatch immensely for allowing me to volunteer in this manner.

Other than the above work, actual work (yes, I DO work), I have picked up gaming more than in the past, something I have neglected a bit in the past with other interests. The problem for me half the time, is I have too many things I like to do, and it’s always a balance. While I am techology-focused, I still balance that with outdoors activities and family time. Trying to focus on the things I want to most in the “online world,” and balancing my “offline world,” is always a balancing act. In retrospect though, I’d never have it any other way.

And we come to this, Libregeek. I will try to put up a few posts during the rest of my current happenings and activities, but it won’t be daily, that is for sure. I still get comments and page hits here, so there are still denizens of the internet coming this way, that much I can tell. If you keep coming to Libregeek, I’ll still be here (I host software now anyway). I thank you for still reading, if you should be one of those people.

All the best,
